    WE

The project focused on the subject of CARE through theatrical improvisation – on its meaning and the possibilities of expressing and experiencing it. A group of artists of various cultural origins, associated with Strefa WolnoSłowa, selected in an open-call, worked on this topic using theatrical techniques.

    About the project

Workshop participants performed using everyday objects, told stories based on their own experiences, shared visions of ‘who they are’ and ‘what moves them’. They looked at their own experiences and the patterns they received at home, their culture and relationships. They wondered about what it means to take care of yourself and to care for others. Due to their multiculturalism, the participants drew on resources of the different worlds they come from and the ones in which they live today.

In addition to working on this main topic in their own group, the participants also had the opportunity to take advantage of tool workshops conducted by creators / performers / animators cooperating with the Foundation. The preparatory workshop was intended to lay the foundations for working together for the next months. As part of the classes, the participants got to know each other, prepared the basis of the research for the project, developed methods of further work and discussed the final form of the performance corresponding to the competences of the creative team.

    The workshops were conducted by:

Igor Stokfiszewski – inspiration for work, discussion of aspects of working with communities, Agnieszka Różyńska – making decisions in a group, collective creative process, Ray Dickaty – musical improvisation in the creative activity, Alicja Borkowska – working on real stories and biographies in the creative activity, Michał Salwiński – methods of group theatrical improvisation in the creative activity, Łukasz Wójcicki – work on choreography and movement.

The result of the collective work of the participants was an interactive performance entitled “Languages of concern”, taking place due to the pandemic, on the zoom.us platform on 27th, 29th and 30th December 2020.

Creators / Performers: Lizaveta Bibikava, Rachel Merrill Moss, Szymon Misiek, Vera Popova, Michał Salwiński, Patryk Wasilewski.
    Directed by: Michał Salwiński

The “MY” (WE) project, organized by Strefa WolnoSłowa, is co-financed by the capital city of Warsaw.
