Description
In the face of rising temperatures – of water, the planet, the atmosphere and social moods – we try to look at acts of resistance, both small and large. We draw on the wisdom of experiences of struggling against oppression, discrimination, erasure and destruction – of people, animals and nature. It Will Get Warmer is a story about everyday struggle, training sensitivity and observation, a reflection on how our actions or passivity and indifference can contribute to the shape of the world. This five-day theatrical event, through a collage of visual and performative experiences, invites us to reflect together on the accepted categories of thinking about rights and divisions that we cling to despite the fact that they do not correspond to the reality that surrounds us. What is more, they are rooted in an oppressive tradition of destroying everything that is different and incomprehensible in the name of ‘progress’, ‘development’ or “defence” and ‘security’.
The texts in the performance are in Polish or English.

“Capitalism is an economy of waste, and this waste must be hidden from the eyes of those who have the right to enjoy a good life. (...) Whole swathes of people are condemned to perform invisible labour that exceeds their strength in order to create a world suitable for consumption and institutional life. For them, there is dirt, pollution, undrinkable water, uncollected rubbish, ubiquitous plastic, parks with withering, neglected plants, broken air conditioning, and polluted air. And for others, a clean city, gardens, flowers, pleasant walks. The segregation of the world is achieved through a division into clean and dirty, based on the racial division of urban space and the environment." (Francoise Verges)

Flight technology: the first duck takes to the air, paving the way for the second, which in turn clears the path for the third. And the energy of the third lifts the fourth, which gives wings to the fifth, which helps the sixth, which lends wind to the seventh... When it gets tired, the duck flying at the front of the formation moves to the back of the flock and leaves room for the next one at the top of the V shape that the ducks draw in the air. They all switch places, sometimes flying at the front, sometimes at the back, and none of them considers itself a super duck because it is at the front, or an underdog because it is at the back. Life begins with a protocell, chemical compounds gathered inside a vesicle. Archaea and bacteria duplicate, duplicate, duplicate and fill the sea, cyanobacteria begin to consume light, and oxygen seeps into the atmosphere. Oxygen drives away poisonous gases and builds an ozone layer over the world. The air changes radically, extinctions occur, but the surviving cells switch to oxygen and begin to breathe. (Iida Turpeinen)
