However, we still need it. Perhaps even more than ever. At a time when we are sinking into a sense of individualism, desensitised to too much stimulus, locked up in our flats, suffering loneliness, with all these artificial expectations pouring out of our screens that we can't keep up with....
What is community? Why do we want to be part of it? What stands in our way? What connects us as human beings, and what connects us has to divide us from community with nature? Is what defines a human being really only human? Why and for what purpose do we unite? Communities form and disappear, transform themselves, taking on many faces. They want to say something, then they give their voice away. What do they say? What do they give?
Creators
Eliza Paś - performer, actress, singer, instrumentalist (guitar, flutes, percussion instruments) and voice instructor, with a background in linguistics. She has been teaching vocal workshops for more than ten years, focusing on traditional songs, opening up the voice through intensive physical practice, theatre workshops and individual coaching sessions. She has worked for years with cultural centres, festivals and NGOs. Former member of the Czech theatre group ‘Ted’ nádech a let‘’,actress and singer in numerous documentary theatre performances. She cooperates with the Węgajty Theatre and has taken part in productions of the Jubilo Foundation and other projects promoting equality and diversity (e.g. Rozmowy na Skraju Lasu, dir. MALaszecki; Transgresje Ciała, dir. Z. Bartoszewicz). Creator of authorial music (Music Take Me Out of the Fire, Beyond Identities, projects with Andrzej Rejman), she regularly performs in the genre of sung poetry. Member of the group and association Capoeira Angola Warsaw, where she practices various dance and body work techniques on a daily basis. In her work, she seeks authentic forms of expression, an organic connection with her emotions and body, and a liberation from the harmful patterns imposed by contemporary society.
Renan Vieira is a photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in Poland, exploring visual storytelling. With over 14 years of experience in photography and video production, he specialises in documenting a variety of events, from cultural festivals and live performances to corporate projects and sports competitions. His distinct style and attention to detail have repeatedly resulted in collaborations with various artists in Brazil and Europe. Now living in Poland, Renan has embraced the country's culture and climate, using the new challenges as fuel for his creativity and artistic development. He frequently participates in exhibitions, sharing the rich visual narratives of Brazilian culture with Polish audiences. His work is characterised by a seamless blend of Brazilian vitality and sublime technical skill, connecting people from different cultures through powerful imagery. Renan's creative journey continues to evolve, with ongoing projects that combine his skills in graphic design, music and video. His flexibility and commitment to creative exploration make him a dynamic and innovative force in contemporary visual art.
Ewa Dąbrowska - sculptor, performer, vocalist. In 2018 she graduated with honours from the studio of Professor A.J. Pastwa at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She is the winner of the ENTRY Initiative Award and the Society of Friends of the Academy of Fine Arts Award. She has done her projects in Poland, Hungary, Germany, Armenia, Ukraine, Italy, France and Slovakia. She creates installations, happenings, traditional sculpture, drawings and land art and works mainly with light materials such as paper, sponge and sticks collected from the forest cover. An important area of her work is art that makes her reflect on the state of the planet and human actions in relation to the environment we live in and other living beings. She seeks ways to combine her main areas of work - music and sculpture - into one creative process. She has worked with the Węgajty Theatre and is active in the cultural activities of the Odnowica Village Association. Vocalist in the band Sen Motyla. Co-founder of the Warsaw independent improvised music scene. In 2020, she created three musical compositions and video clips as part of the Culture on the Web grant.
Sergio Pellegrini - born in São Paulo, comes from a diverse heritage: on his father's side he is descended from Italian immigrants, and on his mother's side he has Iberian and possibly indigenous Brazilian roots. During his childhood, his family often supported his father's research into Brazilian folk culture, immersing him in stories, music and traditions. This multicultural upbringing also included stays in Portugal and France, where Sergio experienced different cultural perspectives and migration influences. During his Master's studies, he lived in the Netherlands and Germany, finding support in international communities. He now lives in Warsaw with his Polish partner and their son, combining Brazilian and Polish heritage. They are actively involved in local cultural organisations, fostering mutual understanding and connections. He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering, with academic contributions at institutions such as the University of São Paulo, Delft University of Technology, Cambridge University and Åbo Akademi University. His career in research and development is characterised by significant publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
